How We Store Your Data
iCloud Sync
ChronoJournal uses Apple CloudKit to sync your data to iCloud. CloudKit stores your data in your personal, private iCloud database—tied exclusively to your Apple ID. Key points:
- Ownership: Your data in CloudKit belongs to your iCloud account, not to us.
- Privacy: Apple secures CloudKit data according to their privacy and security standards.
- No Access: We cannot access, read, or modify data stored in your CloudKit database.
Backups
If you back up your device to iCloud, your ChronoJournal data on-device may be included in that backup according to Apple's iCloud Backup policies.
Data Sharing & Third Parties
We do not share your data with third parties. Your data is not sold, rented, shared, or disclosed to external companies, advertisers, or analytics providers.
Exception - iCloud/CloudKit: Your data is synced through Apple's CloudKit service. This sync is handled by Apple according to Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not control how Apple processes this data, but Apple does not use CloudKit data for advertising or third-party purposes.
Service Providers: We do not use third-party service providers (e.g., analytics platforms, crash reporting, advertising networks) in ChronoJournal.
Security
We take security seriously. Here's how your data is protected:
- iCloud Security: CloudKit data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple. Apple also provides security controls for your iCloud account.
- No Network Transmission (Unless iCloud Enabled): Local data is never transmitted to our servers. We don't run servers that collect app data.
- App Isolation: iOS prevents other apps from accessing ChronoJournal's data.
Data Retention
iCloud Data (CloudKit): Your data persists in your CloudKit database according to Apple's retention policies. To delete CloudKit data:
- Contact support for assistance with full CloudKit data deletion
- Manage iCloud data through Apple's iCloud settings or account recovery processes
Temporary Data: We do not retain any temporary data, logs, or session information on our servers.
