Privacy Policy Overview
Receiptr ("we," "us," "our," or the "App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our iOS app.
Key Principle: We do not track you across apps or websites. We do not use third-party analytics. We do not sell your data. Your data belongs to you.
What Data We Collect and Create
Receiptr collects only data that you explicitly enter into the app:
- Receipts: Store, date, totals, taxes if provided, line items, categories, notes.
- Receipt Photos: Images you select from your photo library to attach to a receipt.
- Grocery Lists: Items and completion state you add in the Grocery Haul feature.
- Subscription state: Product ID, entitlement status, and expiration date returned by Apple for your purchase.
We do NOT collect:
- Location or GPS data
- Advertising identifiers or cross‑app tracking
- Third‑party analytics or ad network data
How We Store Your Data
iCloud Sync
Receiptr uses Apple CloudKit to sync your data to iCloud. CloudKit stores your data in your personal, private iCloud database—tied exclusively to your Apple ID.
- Ownership: Your data in CloudKit belongs to your iCloud account, not to us.
- Privacy: Apple secures CloudKit data according to their privacy and security standards.
- No Access: We cannot access, read, or modify data stored in your CloudKit database.
Backups
If you back up your device to iCloud, your Receiptr data on-device may be included in that backup under Apple's iCloud Backup policies.
Data Sharing & Third Parties
We do not share your data with third parties. Your data is not sold, rented, shared, or disclosed to external companies, advertisers, or analytics providers.
Exception - iCloud/CloudKit: Your data is synced through Apple's CloudKit service. This sync is handled by Apple according to Apple's Privacy Policy. Apple does not use CloudKit private data for advertising.
Service Providers: We do not use third-party analytics, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs in Receiptr.
Security
We take security seriously. Here's how your data is protected:
- iCloud Security: CloudKit data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple.
- No Own Servers: We do not run servers that collect your receipts or lists.
- App Isolation: iOS sandboxing prevents other apps from accessing Receiptr data.
Data Retention
iCloud Data (CloudKit): Your data persists in your CloudKit database until you delete it. To remove data, delete it in the app or delete Receiptr’s data via iOS Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage Storage.
Device Storage: Cached receipt photos stored in the app’s container are removed when you delete the receipt or uninstall the app.
No Server Logs: We do not retain server-side logs of your app data because we do not operate collection servers.
Your Rights & Choices

You have access to your receipts, lists, and photos directly within Receiptr.

Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in features, technology, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above. Your continued use of Receiptr after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
