Frequently Asked Questions
How does iCloud sync work?
Receiptr uses Apple CloudKit with the private database tied to your Apple ID. Your receipts, line items, grocery lists, and attached photos stay in your personal iCloud—no one else can access them.
Who owns my data?
You own your data. Receiptr stores it in your private iCloud. We don’t sell or share it, and we don’t use third‑party analytics SDKs.
What does the app store?
Store name, date, totals, line items, categories, notes, and any photos you choose to attach. It also keeps grocery lists you create. No location tracking or background data collection.
Do you sell or share my data?
No. There are no ads, no data brokers, and no third‑party analytics. iCloud handles storage under Apple’s terms.
How do subscriptions and billing work?
Plans are sold via Apple In‑App Purchase (monthly, 6‑month, annual). Billing and refunds are handled by Apple under App Store policies. You can cancel anytime in Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions.
Is there a free trial?
If a trial is offered, it’s shown before purchase. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends to avoid being charged.
How do I export my data?
Go to Settings > Data & Sync > Export Data to generate a JSON backup file you can save or share.
Why can’t I attach photos?
Check photo permissions in iOS Settings > Receiptr > Photos. Set to “Selected Photos” or “All Photos,” then try again.
Why isn’t sync working?
Ensure iCloud is enabled, you’re signed in with the same Apple ID on all devices, and you have available iCloud storage. Connectivity or low storage can pause sync.
Can I use Receiptr offline?
You can view and add receipts offline; changes sync to iCloud once you reconnect.
How do I report a bug?
Email app.receiptr@gmail.com with steps to reproduce, your iOS version, and screenshots if possible.
Troubleshooting
iCloud Sync Issues
- Sync not updating: Confirm iCloud is on in Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud and Receiptr has iCloud access.
- Data missing on another device: Use the same Apple ID and ensure both devices have iCloud enabled and are online.
- Out of iCloud space: Free space or upgrade your iCloud plan; sync resumes when space is available.
Photos & Permissions
- Cannot add photos: In Settings > Receiptr > Photos, allow Selected or All Photos.
- Limited photo selection: Switch to “All Photos” if you need access beyond the limited set.
Subscriptions & Billing
- Change or cancel: Go to Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions, select Receiptr, and adjust your plan.
- Refunds: Request through Apple’s reportaproblem.apple.com, subject to App Store and ACL rights.
